67 Years Nuclear Energy, Nuclear Destruction

67 Years Nuclear Energy, Nuclear Destruction NUCLEAR AUGUST 11, 2012 “Those who fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it.” Winston Churchill The devastation of man and nature has fallen on Nagasaki which suffered two nuclear disasters. Since 1945 mankind appears to agree dropping nuclear bombs on each other is a bad thing. It is my desire that the Politian’s take action which is in agreement with the US Nuclear Regulatory Commission that Thorium Nuclear Reactors are safer than Plutonium Reactors. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nagasaki On August 9, 1945, Nagasaki was the target of the United States' second atomic bomb attack (and the second detonation of a plutonium bomb; the first was tested in central New Mexico, USA) at 11:02 a.m., when the north of the city was destroyed in less than a second, and an estimated 70,000 people were killed by the bomb codenamed "Fat Man." According to statistics found within Nagasaki Peace Park, the death toll from the atomic bombing totaled 73,884, including 2,000 Korean forced workers and eight POWs, as well as another 74,909 injured, and another several hundred thousand diseased and dying due to fallout and other illness caused by radiation. Safe nuclear does exist, and China is leading the way with thorium A few weeks before the tsunami struck Fukushima’s uranium reactors and shattered public faith in nuclear power, China revealed that it was launching a rival technology to build a safer, cleaner, and ultimately cheaper network of reactors based on thorium. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/comment/ambroseevans_pritchard/839398... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/India's_three_stage_nuclear_power_programme Thorium energy forecasts According to the Chairman of India’s Atomic Energy Commission, Dr Srikumar Banerjee, without the implementation of fast breeders the presently available uranium reserves of 5.469 million tonnes can support 570 GWe till 2025. If the total identified and undiscovered uranium reserves of 16 million tonnes are brought online, the power availability can be extended till the end of the century. While calling for more research into thorium as an energy source and the country’s indigenous three stage program, he said, “The world always felt there would be a miracle. Unfortunately, we have not seen any miracle for the last 40 years. Unless we wake up, humans won't be able to exist beyond this century.” It is estimated that between 5000 and 6000 tones of thorium would provide the total energy need of the planet for a year, not just on electricity but also for transport. Thorium would meet projected global power generation needs for well over 1000 years, if only the current economically mine-able reserves are taken into account, or longer if further reserves are discovered or become economically mine-able due to thorium's presence in earth's crust at about 6 - 12 parts per million. It is the 39th most common element in the earth's crust.
